Blessed To Bless

Do you ever hear of a story that puts things into perspective?

I was watching the story of a 10 year old boy who, after saving all of the money he made during the summer selling lemonade and cutting neighbor’s lawns decided to take $25.00 and for the month of December, every time he would go through the Tim Horton’s drive through, he would buy the driver behind a coffee. He said that he felt that everybody needs to have a smile on their face and he wanted to do that for as many people with that $25.00 as he could.

He said that he felt that everybody needs to have a smile on their face

It really challenges us about blessings and being blessed.

What’s your reaction to the story? Do we look and say that we don’t have anything to give or do we think of those who have so much?

The truth is, in some way shape or form, we have been blessed.

The truth is, in some way shape or form, we have been blessed. If we have a job, some money, enough to eat, a safe place to live, family, some friends, or an education, then we have been blessed.

It may be different, varying, small, medium or quite a lot but we have been blessed.

When I think of the things that we have in North America (and I understand that many live in poverty and have little on our continent), there are so many countless men and women, boys and girls around the world who would beg for the things we throw out or pay no mind to at a whims notice.

So what’s to do…

I say that not only in this Christmas season but throughout the year, we can figure out ways to bless. It doesn’t just mean money or goods. Time is an incredible blessing for people when we give of ours.

We were not made to live in isolation and that also means that our blessings were and are meant to help make a difference in someone else’s life in some way.

We were not made to live in isolation

So when we open a present or eat some food, or take a walk and enjoy the aura and wonder of Christmas through decorations and the spirit of the season, be thankful that in some way, you and I have been blessed but even more than that, think about some way that we can do our part to bless the life or lives of others…

There are many who are suffering loss this season; a loved one who is no longer with them and the sting is present… Maybe a phone call, text or email or even a quick visit could do wonders for the soul. Why not do something for a hurting soul…..

It sure feels good to bless with no expectation to receive back but the beauty of blessing others is that it does come back to us in the form of blessings.

So why not…. Maybe that’s why God sent Jesus to kind of initiate us to the idea of freely giving of ourselves in some way to bless others. He blessed us as this is the reason for this season!

Blessed to Bless; It sounds good to me!!!!

Merry Christmas: It is one of the most wonderful times of the year!
