Christmas Joys... Christmas Blues Motivational Monday Quick Thoughts

Only a couple of days remain until Christmas is upon us.

The shopping malls are full of last minute shoppers, supermarket aisles are jammed with shoppers getting those last minute items for the can't miss Christmas spread, Christmas music is played on pretty much every station that you can imagine and for some, it is the best of times and for others, it is something of a mixed bag.

But for all of us, as we walk into this holiday season, no matter what has happened during the year of 2019, maybe we can try to embrace the time and season we are living in.

For those of us who have been or are living with some sort of heartache, we can be encouraged that we can live and somehow move forward even when it's been difficult, tears have been shed, worrying about the future, family, etc, we still somehow can look and believe that the sun, at some point will rise in our lives in the middle of the blues.

And with that, a couple of simple thoughts about embracing the season of life we are in... even during the Most Wonderful Time of the year!

This season may turn into a time of growth if we are willing to dig in right where we are.

Our season might be preparing us for what’s next.

Our Season might surprise Us..

Fighting our season and grumbling in our heart might make us miss the good things that maybe God is trying to get us to see: perhaps new opportunities, new relationships, new paths, or new dreams that are far better than anything we could imagine.

Your season may have something to not only to teach you, but also to teach someone else.

Meaningful relationships aren’t just about us, and perhaps that tough trial we may have gone through or are going through was meant to grow us and others who are part of our journey as we are all connected in some way shape or form.

Our season may teach us an essential life skill: how to embrace change.

To grow what matters in our life, just as we grow flowers in a garden, get our hands dirty, digging in right where we are. Growing what matters takes doing something that is counter intuitive to how we usually operate: embracing change.

We choose to embrace change, imperfect progress, and imperfect circumstances.

There is a verse in the Bible that says that we trust that “in all things God works for the good of them who love Him".

Sometimes, it's hard to think it but just maybe God is showing us His love more through what feels hard than through what feels easy in many circumstances.

Your season may help you come alive!

Our season will not last forever, but it might have something really good for us that we don’t want to miss by fighting the season we’re in, fighting the changes, or fighting what feels imperfect. Dig in right where we are.

Remember: For everything there is a season. A time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.

A little encouragement for you: So I've felt weird since mom has gone. Still can't believe that she is gone and it will almost be a year that we had to say goodbye.

There have been so many off moments but this week, after a close friend received our Christmas letter, her perception was that with the sadness of our loss, she could see the change and growth that has come out of this season.

For me, I couldn't say that I've seen what she was talking about before that but as I've thought about it, there have been some good moments in this season.

So whether we are excited as we are in the Christmas Joys mode or maybe a little in the Christmas Blues mode, find something big or small to put a smile on our face, to warm our heart in this season we are in!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!!

Dave
