Forward Friday recaps the Power Of Forgiveness... Have you ever wondered why forgiveness can feel so difficult when we’ve been hurt?
Exploring why holding onto unforgiveness can trap us and why it’s essential to let go and move forward.
It’s a concept that’s hard to fully grasp, but Easter shows us that forgiveness is at the heart of everything. It’s a message we must learn to live by: forgive, and forgive continually.
Check out the Video recaps below...
Let's Get Into This!!
Video Recap # 1
Time and time again, the person who refuses to forgive becomes consumed by negativity—thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that trap them in their own prison of resentment.
Video Recap # 2
People who harbor unforgiveness may think they’re punishing the other person, but in reality, they’re only hurting themselves. An unforgiving spirit makes us cold and bitter, even when we don’t realize it.
Video Recap # 3
Forgiveness doesn’t always mean reconciliation. Trust can be broken, and relationships may never be the same, but forgiveness allows us to release the emotional weight.
Forgiveness: The Key to Freedom
Forgiveness isn’t about letting someone off the hook; it’s about freeing ourselves from the weight of bitterness and resentment. It’s about living unburdened, without chains hanging around our necks.
The Bible is full of wisdom on forgiveness. Here are a few key verses: “If you forgive the wrongs of others, your heavenly Father will forgive you.” (Matthew 6:14)
“If you stand praying and remember that you have something against someone, go and be reconciled to them.” (Matthew 5:23-24)
“Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” (Colossians 3:13)
Forgiveness isn’t just a suggestion; it’s a command. It’s about love’s rebellion against bitterness and vengeance. When we forgive, we break the cycle of retribution and let go of the need to get even.
Forgiveness isn’t just a word—it’s an action. It’s a choice to move forward and release ourselves from the pain of the past.
The Healing Power of Forgiveness
There’s something incredibly freeing about forgiveness. When we forgive, we release ourselves from the grip of anger and malice. And sometimes, by doing so, we create the possibility for restoration. Even if a relationship can’t be fully restored, forgiveness allows us to heal.
A therapist once told me, “You have every right to be angry, but if you allow that anger to define you, it will hurt you more than the person you’re angry at.”
Wise words that have stuck with me: forgiveness isn’t about excusing the other person’s behavior; it’s about setting ourselves free from the emotional and spiritual weight of holding a grudge.
The Road to Easter: Forgiveness in Action
The road to Easter was filled with pain, betrayal, and hatred. But even in the face of it all, Jesus chose forgiveness. He could have held onto anger, but instead, He made the choice to forgive, even to His dying breath. And that act of forgiveness made all the difference for humanity.
Forgiveness is not always easy, but it is always worth it. It’s a choice that frees us from the chains of bitterness, anger, and resentment.
By forgiving, we not only heal ourselves, but we also open the door for reconciliation and restoration.
So, let’s choose to forgive—because, in the end, forgiveness is the key to living free.

For freedom...
