Forward Friday.. The Hummer Man... Unsung Heroes #9. My Friend Kevin Gundry-White...

So we are back for another installment of Unsung Heroes.

Now more than ever, it is important to focus our attentions on stories that will encourage us, enlighten us and also sensitize us to, about and for people.

Most people go about their daily lives doing what they do and many if not most times, no one takes notice but if they didn’t do what they did………

Our communities I dare say would not be better off if these unsung heroes were not there.

The fatigue of this period of time has worn on so many so some real stories of everyday people can be just the right medicine to help us raise our eye levels a little bit past this 6 month grind of Covid, political uncertainty etc.

We’re back for another installment of Unsung Heroes and in this 9th installment on Forward Friday, we want to highlight one of my friends, Kevin Gundry-White.

I’ve known Kevin for a long time and to say that Kevin is one of the sharpest guys I know is an understatement.

Kevin is known as the "Hummer Man Of God". He loves Hummers!!!!!

Kevin is one of the most friendly guys anyone would want to meet and if someone would be in tough in any area of life, Kevin is one of those guys who’s open heart and kind spirit lends itself to lending a helping hand.

So, a lot of people know Kevin as a certified GM mechanic and how has saved his many customers over the years thousands upon thousands of $$$ over the years because of expert skill and knowledge but that’s just the sideline skill set he uses to help his customers and friends with. (It doesn’t hurt that every so often, his mom bakes…. Enough said)

I've been fortunate and blessed to have Kevin service our vehicles for the past 17 years. In fact, we haven't bought a vehicle unless Kev says it's a go!!
It's nice to know that one could be in good hands when it comes to the investment of buying a vehicle.

Kevin is humble so he wouldn’t tell you about some of his accomplishments and how he got to where he is today but check this out…..

Kevin has an incredible toolbox of skills, gifting’s and abilities.

Graduated from Argyle Academy on the honor roll; was also Head Prefect in his graduating year.

Graduated from Vanier College in Pure and Applied Science, was President of Vanier Christian Fellowship.

West Island Career Center-Auto Mechanics Program

McGill University-Vocational Education Degree

And it is amazing journey to see how far his skill, education and drive has taken him.

Some of his journey, vocation wise.

Hummer Mechanic-John Scotti

Truck Mechanic-Chevy Truck Center

Mechanics Teacher-Aviron and Nova Career Center

And just because……

High School Teacher-Howard S. Billings

Technical Communicator-Toromont CAT for the forklift division.

Have you ever had the friend who is such a cool guy or girl, unpretentious and unassuming but smart and knows a lot about a lot? But you can hang with them because they are down to earth and love the connection and back and forth that is found in relational bonds, That’s Kevin.

Sometimes, the mechanic work would be done in record time but I’d never get home early because we would be talking about all sorts of things and I would many times come away thinking how fortunate I was to have a mechanic who is a friend that we could talk about more than the weather or the Canadiens…. Mind you, The Habs conversation wouldn’t be long anyway…..

But Kevin isn’t all work and no play….

And Kevin does play……..

Some Of His Hobbies Include:

Off Roading with the Hummer Club of which Kevin is the President of the Quebec Hummer club

Kevin is a huge ATV enthusiast, Skidooing and Seadooing

Kevin is a builder, creator of many kinds.

Kevin is a creative teacher, he is also a weekend speaker at different churches.

Kevin was the youngest head usher at our church; never heard of before.

Kevin was an incredible Sunday School Teacher for a number of years teaching, loving and leading young teens who could always be seen hanging around with Kevin, talking, joking, having conversations.

You could see the positive effects that Kevin had on those teens.

Kevin is a family guy and it’s one thing to say it when you’re busy and have as many sticks in the fire as Kevin does but……..

Kevin is married to his bride Nadine who, I think has been coerced to doing Off Road in the Hummer among other things but she smiles so I guess she’s okay with it!!!

Kevin loves and cherishes his mom and sister and it is a wonderful thing to see that no matter how busy he can be, with all of his interests and professions, family is always first.

As I think about unsung heroes, most wouldn’t even consider themselves as such but when you look at who they are and how they make people feel, how they positively impact people, if you asked them about what it is that they do, they would just say, “That what we do”.

Kevin is that type of person; high skilled, highly educated but beyond down to earth and if I were to coin a comment, Kevin is the one who would say that his God given abilities, skills, curiosity to learn is so that in his little ways, he can make the lives of people he encounters just a little better.

We salute you Kevin and thank you for your service and what you do!

It is an incredible effort of professionalism and care that you do and who you are for those you come in contact with!!

And as Kev would say,

Later....................

Dave
