Thanksgiving.. Reminds Me Of Gratitude: Friends……

In honor of American Thanksgiving (it’s more than the Black Friday Deals but love them too), I’ve been thinking how grateful I am for the friends I have been blessed to have in my life. As it is commonly said, we don’t get to choose our family (thankful for them) but we get to choose…. Well you get the picture….

This past weekend, spent some time with some friends I haven’t seen in some time and by the end of the day, I was reminded why I loved spending time when we were younger.

And with all that our world throws our way and life in general, I have been thankful to God for the friends that have complemented my life and how they help make life run just a bit smoother.

So I’ve been reading some thoughts on gratitude and friendship and these thoughts have encouraged me to appreciate, value, nurture the friendships I have. Hope they can do the same for you.

It can be hard to maintain a spirit of thankfulness, especially when busyness, events, circumstances even celebrations distracts us.

For many, there can be a conflict between thankfulness and want but we would do well to allow thankfulness to win out over accumulation.

To be more thankful for what you have than what you hope to get, someday. To be more thankful for the people in your life than the things in your life.

Could it be the design of God, the master creator that in this journey of life, even though we may begin at different times and places, our paths cross with others so that we may share our love, compassion, observations, and hope.

To appreciate a friend can make their day. To put it into words and deed is all that is necessary. I am grateful for the friends who make my life more enriched; life is much more exciting with them than not!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Dave
