A childhood friend sent in this tribute about his mom and some of the women in his life that helped form his character. With his consent, I thought it was quite fitting for a #MotivationalMonday.
HM: Single Mom raising two boys on her own on Duff Court in the 1970’s. That taught me a lot about the strength, determination, and commitment of women...and the resulting respect, kindness, and equality that they deserve. I also had teachers and classmates at Central Park School that were fantastic role models and peers. Ms’s Dempsey, Schreiber, and Park. Varsha Bhat, Yaprak Kant, Barbara Kitching...and others........
When you value something or someone, you protect it...
When women are not valued, they then can become products because they are not seen as people.
To the extent that a culture rejects its moral fiber and moorings, its women can then become undervalued and unprotected.
You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it
