Unsung Heroes! New Story!! 4th In The Series.. A Noble Life To Live… Forward Friday Reflections

So we are back for another installment of Unsung Heroes.

Now more than ever, it is important to focus our attentions on stories that will encourage us, enlighten us and also sensitize us to, about and for people.

Most people go about their daily lives doing what they do and many if not most times, no one takes notice but if they didn’t do what they did………

Our communities I dare say would not be better off if these unsung heroes were not there.

The fatigue of this period of time has worn on so many so some real stories of everyday people can be just the right medicine to help us raise our eye levels a little bit past this 6 month grind of Covid, political uncertainty etc.

So in this Forward Friday 4th installment, I want to tell you a little bit about my friend, Pierrette Hebert.

I have to be nice because after all, this is a story about Pierrette’s life of service and not the fact that we’ve been neighbors and friends for 20 years.. I will be nice!!! Promise!!

So I’ve gotten to know Pierrette as we are next door neighbors and have been for 20 plus years.

You get to know a person when you begin to spend time with them and we have spent many moments over the years with her family.

Many Christmas day celebrations, birthdays, anniversaries, bike days, sharing all sorts of things, even mini vacations together.

During some of the toughest moments of our lives, Pierrette’s family have shared the weight of many a moment and vice versa and truly she/they are more than neighbors to us!

What you may not know is that Pierrette is a dental hygienist and works in one of our medical centers (CLSC) and is now the team leader for their area/division.

One of her specialties has been working with elementary school age students. I remember the day that I walked into one of my schools and I didn’t know the school had their “Dentistry Day” that particular morning.

The principal said go in and get your teeth done which was a big laugh.. Until I walked in and guess who was there? Pierrette!!!

I actually stayed for a bit and saw how she made the children feel comfortable because not everyone is enthused when they need a cleaning, fluoride treatment etc. but Pierrette definitively has tremendous skill in making her patients feel comfortable.

I remember asking Pierrette why she gravitated towards dental hygienist and she said that it looked interesting.

Pierrette spent 2 years in Switzerland as part of her stage and although Pierrette never became a world class skier, these past 34 years have proven that she is a highly skilled hygienist bar none.

This epidemic that we have lived through has turned a lot of things upside down and with the schools closed, Pierrette morphed over to the Covid call center and presently is in the Covid tracing dept. at one of our major hospitals for the next period of time.

Because of Pierrette’s knowledge and expertise, she is able to handle the shifts, twists and turns the profession has thrown her way.

Besides being a great dental practitioner, Pierrette is a wife, a mom and also is dragon boat racer.

Imagine that!!!!! I’ve actually seen Pierrette in action dragon boat racing and she is a fierce competitor in the spirit of fun and comradery.

But when you get to know her, it is easy to understand why Pierrette excels at whatever she does but especially in the area of being a top flight hygienist.

She cares and it really matters when what we do is because of the love we have for what we do and the people we serve.

I probably will get a beat down for this post but I wanted you to know a little bit about my friend, Pierrette and the difference she is making every day in the lives of people!

These unsung heroes aren’t doing what they do for glory, grandeur or accolades but we need to be thankful because they help make our days, weeks, months better and we are truly better for having them in our lives!

Thank you Pierrette!!!!

We are grateful!!

Dave
