We Can Find What We’re Looking For.. Motivational Monday Thoughts About Contentment..

As we walk into a new week, There are people who have the U2 jingle, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" rolling through their minds. Most if not all are earnestly seeking that thing but cannot seem to connect the dots.

On the road to finding "It", we say we want to be "Happy" when in reality, what we really need is to find contentment in our lives.

Here are some thoughts to help us get this week off to a good start!

He or she who is not contented with what they have, would not be contented with what he/she would like to have

A contented mind is the greatest blessing a person can enjoy in this world.

The key to contentment is to consider. Consider who you are and be satisfied with that. Consider what you have and be satisfied with that. Consider what God's doing and be satisfied with that. You will be amazed at how much more comfortable you'll feel with yourself. Finally, consider this: If contentment cannot be found within yourself, you'll never find it.

Discontent is like ink poured into water, which fills the whole fountain full of blackness. It casts a cloud over the mind, and causes it to more occupied about the evil which alarms than about the means of removing it.

It's not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness

Is the glass half empty or half full? Just be thankful you have a glass!

If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.

Contentment has the ability to squeeze out of every situation all the good there is to get.

Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for

Contentment is a pearl of great price, and whoever procures it at the expense of ten thousand desires makes a wise and a happy purchase

A good life with contentment is itself a great wealth. For we brought nothing with us into this world, and we can take nothing out of it. So if we have enough of what we need, let us be content with that.

I’m on the walk to spiritual formation, learning to be content in all situations, little or much… How about you?

I’m learning; I’m rediscovering what I’m looking for.. I hope the same for you too..

Dave

Oh yes, why not sing a little bit on the way out!!!
