TESTIMONIALS

You continue to be a beacon of light! Thank you for simply being you and sharing your time with me at Westmount High. You helped us to strive for excellence and were with us every step of the way.

Carrie Armistead

You have mentored, nurtured and encouraged so many people. Thank you!

Let me tell you something my distant yet dear friend from Cobourg Camp. You will never know how much an inspiration you were to me as a young black brother from the city attending youth camps and hanging at the cottage where to say I was a minority was an understatement in every sense of the word. You demonstrated a love for God, passion for kids, intensity in sports, and passion in worship. Your vibrancy of spirit and compassion left such an impression on me that I must say without it I would have never come back year after year. I never told you how much an inspiration you were for me in life and now in ministry but if you are going to tell your story I want the world to have its first Forward to the book.

You were always there for us as a youth leader back in the day Dave, and we learned a lot from you. We shared a lot of laughs between camp at Cobourg and youth retreats in Kingston. You covered for us when we caused a bit of “trouble”. You prayed with us and prayed for us, so now we stand with you through this journey. I am in health care now and am blown away by how many of our first responders are taking their lives. I feel it is my new “ministry” of sorts. Thanks for taking this next step...with you all the way brother.

Dan

I must tell you that you were truly one of the people that I looked up to at Westmount and you were a tremendous influence on me. Had it not been for your voice ringing in my ears at many times I probably would have ended up dead or in jail. your words of encouragement gave me hope that I could be better. Let's not forget that you also helped me get out of nearly getting the life beat out of me...... ahhh the good ol' days!!! Thanks to Facebook, many of the girls from Westmount that made my life hell have reached out to apologize.... so there is a God!!! Anyway.... I could probably write a book but if you didn't know or wondered if you ever helped anyone.... here I am!!!
I am glad we reconnected and wish you nothing but the best in the life that is to come.

It was an exciting week-end where young lives were transformed in a very real way. Dave Mills was our speaker. He communicated effectively, spoke to the youth on a level they could understand. He mixed in humor, personal stories, and shared from his heart. With this approach, the youth and young adults were drawn to his message. Throughout the week-end, Dave found time to connect with the youth & young adults during meal times, free time, and organized activities. Dave is truly a servant. The week-end schedule was packed solid. When asked if he could squeeze in a round table discussion with adult leaders, Dave was happy to oblige. From the outset, our minds were set on Dave and he didn’t disappoint. We are thankful that Dave was open to bring life in his unique style.

PD, It’s been a long time! I left church this morning and I was thinking back to my early  experiences with Christ. I was reminded of your messages on those Friday evenings at STH. Looking back I’ve come to realize just how much they have made a difference in my character and my relationship with God. I just want you to know that I am so grateful for the words you’ve sown into my life. God bless you PD and Happy Father’s Day!!!
With love

Dave Mills ministered at Camp Livingstone for a week as our “Teen Camp” speaker where he conducted 11 chapel sessions. He blessed the teens and ministering staff by his presence, transparency and challenging material. The youth staff was so blessed by his ministry, that we re-invited him to speak 2 sessions at our staff reunion later that fall. Camp Livingstone is an inter-denominational camp with the purpose to reach the un-reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Dave is a good role model and dynamic speaker that we would gladly re-invite to Camp Livingstone.

Dave spoke at our getaway retreat. Dave was a great communicator of God's word and was able to relate to each age group represented. I found that one of the things that encouraged me the most and I was happy about was Dave's obedience to God while speaking. He was never afraid to allow God to move in any direction He wanted to take the service. When a speaker can relate to the age group, have a great sense of humor and communicate the word while still being obedient to God, there is no greater combination for a

powerful retreat.

It was a pleasure to have Dave speak at our retreat. If given the opportunity to have him back I would do it in a heartbeat and I would recommend Dave to anyone else looking for a speaker.

I am so proud that people throughout my life compared me to Dave Mills. It used to bug me as a teenager as I “wanted to be my own man” but as a man now, there’s no one I’d rather be connected to than him.  He is a real legend!

Chris Chase

I am a well-adjusted, married woman but that wasn’t the case not so long ago. When I was a teenager, my self-esteem was non-existent and I hated myself. I was a cutter, had tried a number of times to end my life although truth be told, I really didn’t want to die but didn’t know how to live.

My dad, through a friend made it possible for me to go to a youth camp @ Camp Livingston in the summer that changed my life.

I heard a speaker there named Dave who seemed to speak my language, was funny but really made me think. I didn’t tell him everything that was going on in my life but he seemed to know that I would need to talk long after camp was over. He gave me his cell number and told me to call anytime
I needed to.

A few weeks later, a called him in a panic because I started cutting again and was scared I would really harm myself this time.

He was reassuring, calm and told me that I needed to go see my school counselor right away. I didn’t think I could but he said I could and because of his belief in me, I did.

That meeting with the counselor started me on my way to healing from the inside out and my life is so different from what it once was.

I’m thankful to God for Dave and those who he put in my way to help me become who I am today!

From a Former Camper's Notebook

I am so grateful to have had your family in my life throughout my youth. You and Keith were amazing leaders, role models, and friends. She raised you well and as a result you impacted so many of us, imparting the love of Christ and guiding us through those "make or break" teen years.

I am forever thankful for the Mills family.
